Pasteli Factory In Anogyra

We wanted to show you a bit more about pasteli.

The following information is adapted from the official website page for the village which doesn't seem to be there for the time being!

The factory is run owned and run by Andreas & Despoulla Michala. You can contact them by phone on:

00357 25 221500 or mobile 00357 99 765078

Sadly no webpage at the moment but if you are visiting the village just ask someone where they are and they will either take you or show you.

Please note, I have taken the pictures straight off the website and the enlarge button is on the orignal picture. Unfortunately you will not be able to enlarge the pictures. Sorry!

Sometimes things make more sense when you see them as a moving image instead of a photograph so here are 3 very brief videos taken at the factory to showcase the process of making pastelli, this wonderful toffee like food.

From Andreas and Despoulla...

“Paradosiako (Traditional)” is the only factory in Cyprus which makes pure “pastelli” (sweet made of honey and sesame boiled together and let to cool until a solid piece is formed) in the traditional way, without using machines.

This way, the factory contributes in maintaining the tradition of our country.

“Pastelli” is a very nutritious and tasty product which is made of carob honey. It contains iron, phosphor, potassium, magnesium, silicon, trace elements, vitamins A and B, as well as three times the calcium contained in milk.

What it also worth mentioning is that it constitutes one of the most effective “medicines” against constipation, since it cleans the enteric system.

Andreas and Despoula invite you to their workshop to taste their delicious products for free!
